”There’s no doubting, from listening to this album, that he’s one of the continent’s strongest standard bearers for the straight-ahead jazz guitar sound.”
”beautifully played tunes which have huge amounts of groove and creative artistry across eleven tracks.”
”Halperin is one of the main flag bearers of Lennie Tristano’s New York legacy”
-Rob Mallows (LondonJazz News)
"Pål Nyberg is a brilliant guitarist... one of Sweden's secret guitar treasures"
-Jan Granlie (Salt-peanuts)
”Thanks to Halperin's masterful playing throughout and the local rhythm section that manages to guide as much as enable the two soloists—Nyberg and Halperin—to reach higher plains, the influence of Tristano is all over Snow Tiger. Yet, it must be made clear that Tristano is here not only in the i repertoire but also in the four musicians' collective forays into the (slightly) freer end of improvisation. But make no mistake: this is in no way a free jazz recording; rather, it is a jazz recording by four musicians with consciously open minds."

Pål Nyberg Trio with Jimmy Halperin
Earlier "Halperin-Nyberg Connection" is a collaboration between legendary NYC saxophonist Jimmy Halperin and Swedish guitarist Pal Nyberg. The group, also consisting of Danish drummer Andreas Fryland and Swedish bass player Robert Erlandsson has over the past few years toured extensively and played in many of Europes most important venues for modern jazz, including shows at Jazz Club Fasching (Stockholm), Paradise Jazz (Copenhagen), A-trane (Berlin), Birdland (Hamburg) and Bimhuis (Amsterdam). Their debut album Snow Tiger was released in September 2015. The album has received nothing but praise from both critics and audience alike. The groups second album "Live at A-trane, Berlin" will be released begining of 2017.
Halperin has a unique spot in the history of jazz as one of the main flag bearers of Lennie Tristano’s New York legacy. Once a student of Tristano and later Sal Mosca he has developed a unique sound highly influenced by the cool approach of the Tristano-School. Halperin has extensively worked with both Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz and is perhaps the most interesting improviser deriving from the New York Cool scene living today.
Swedish guitarist and composer Pal Nyberg has since he graduated the renowned Conservatorium van Amsterdam toured across Europe playing with many of the great young improvisers of the diverse jazz and impro scene of today. He was
mentioned in LondonJazz News as ”one of the continent’s strongest standard bearers for the straight-ahead jazz guitar sound.”
